|ART at a Glance|
Participants in the Art program explore elements of art such as line, value, color, shape, and form and principles of art including balance, proportion and rhythm. Students express thoughts and ideas creatively, while challenging their imagination and problem solving skills. Perception, creative expression, historic and cultural heritage, and critical evaluation provide a unifying structure for the curriculum.
Projects and portfolio pieces from the coursework may include sculpture, printmaking, watercolor, acrylic paintings and graphite sketches. Students are also introduced to instruction in pastels, colored pencil, and ceramics. Exposure and experimentation with various types of art allows exploration and the development of lifelong skills.
